Towards the end of last year we started to think about the SCOBA Annual Dinner for 2016. We knew that this year would be the 50th Anniversary of England winning the World Cup. With this in mind we had no hesitation in paying our own tribute to our England hero of that day 50 years ago. We know that Gordon has a busy year ahead with numerous functions planned all culminating in a grand gala dinner night in London on July 30th. We want to get the ball rolling so to speak and make this a great night for Gordon by reliving stories from 1966 and also to give him our support as he continues to battle his fight with kidney cancer.
As always the evening will be at the Britannia Stadium on Thursday 24th March arriving at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Apart from our guest of honour we hope to have a good turn out of former Stoke City players and hopefully some surprise guests. We have our legendary Pie, Peas, Chips and Gravy on the menu and the very funny Jed Stone entertaining us later in the night. There will be a raffle with some great prizes plus a small auction of some very special items with a definite World Cup and England theme.
We all want this to be a special night for Gordon and his family and we want him to really enjoy the night without too many distractions. Nobody will leave without an autograph and we have produced a very collectable print of Gordon which he has signed and will be given to everyone who attends the event.
