SCOBA & FULFORD UTD HIT £3000 TARGET.

On Thursday 1st of December 2016 SCOBA together with Fulford Utd FC put on
fund raising night at the Florence Club to raise important funds to help Fulford
continue as a Football Club. As the Premier League get richer each year its clubs
like Fulford who need the support to carry on the traditions of grass roots football.

Elaine Seabridge and Ian Dyer who both do great work for Fulford Utd organised
the night and all that was required was for SCOBA to turn out in force to give the
200 people in attendance a night to remember. It was one of the best turn outs
in terms of former players, Terry Conroy, Denis Smith, Mike Pejic and Jackie Marsh
all from the victorious 1972 League Cup team were there. Eric Skeels who has the
most appearances ever by a Stoke Player over 600 games was there together with
Bill Bentley, Mike McDonald, Alan Dodd, Paul Johnson, John Lumsdon, Terry
Lees, George Jackson and yours truly John Ruggiero.

TC was our master of ceremony and we were all introduced to the audience. It
was a really good atmosphere and we were made to feel really welcome. I gave
a quick 10 minutes about how SCOBA started and what we do as a group. It has
been a great year for us with well over £50,000 raised for various charities and
individuals who needed our support.

dsc_0400First up to the stage were Eric Skeels and Bill Bentley. Both played for Stoke City when Sir Stan came back to the club in the late 60s. Both spoke very highly of the             dsc_0403
great man and what was really nice was that Stans daughter Jean and her husband
Bob were also in attendance. Jean had actually spoken at the start to explain how
important it was to keep clubs like Fulford alive. Both Eric and Bill also shared some
personal stories of their time at Stoke.

TC gave the audience some of his best stories form his career talking with affection
for Stoke On Trent as an area that has seen so many former players put down
roots. His legendary tales of Tony Waddington always go down a treat and this
night was no different.

After a quick break the legends of Smith, Marsh and Pejic took to the stage. Three
home grown lads that played well over a 1000 games for Stoke City. Of course they
were all part of that famous back four that beat Chelsea in the 72 League Cup
final. Plenty of tales of that day which was an excuse to mention that we celebrate
45 years next March of that famous and still the only major trophy the club have
won. Smithy was quick to point out that Pej was the quiet one back in the day but                           dsc_0412now you cant shut him up, which was great as Pej has lots to say about the game
and you have to agree with most of what he says about the modern day players.
Lots of great stories from all three with TC pulling the strings.
A great night then had by all and the most important thing the target of £3000
was raised. Lots of happy supporters with photographs and signatures a plenty.

Well done to all those that supported the night.
