Stoke Stats – 271 Appearances – 49 Goals between 1967 and 1979
Terry is still living and working in Stoke-onTrent and is currently working for xPRO, a charitable organisation helping former professional footballers. He is also the current chairman of SCOBA the association for former Stoke players.
Football today would not be where it is without the players of yesteryear, footballers constrained by a maximum wage, appearance money, boggy pitches and archaic medical treatment.
Those players, heroes of many today, suffer from debilitating conditions which affect their quality of life.
Terry suffered from an abdominal aortic aneurysm in March 2011, which doctors told him he only had a one-in-10 chance of surviving.
He now campaigns for the cause and wants all over 65s to be scanned for the condition where the body’s main blood vessel, the aorta, weakens and expands. Several SCOBA events are now linked to the AAA screening campaign.
