We were recently approached by the Royal Stoke University Hospital to give our support to Dementia Research. Stoke City Football Club are also supporting the campaign by becoming a Dementia friendly Club . One of our legends Mike Pejic who does a lot to support other agencies locally to promote awareness will feature in a video film that will be shown at the Chelsea Home game on the big screens. So as not to miss out on the opportunity of being part of the video we were joined by some of the research team at our Tuesday get together at Davids Brasserie on the Trentham Estate. More and more people are suffering from this disease and as a group we are aware of the many former footballers who are also being diagnosed, the latest that springs to mind being Stan Bowles the former QPR star. Having Gordon Banks in our group means we get regular updates on the heroes of the 1966 World Cup Winners. Its so sad to hear that many of them are struggling with memory loss and Gordon is very active in promoting awareness with his recent TV advert alongside Sir Geoff Hurst.
