STOKE City legend Mike Pejic has donated a signed football shirt to raise money for community events in the area where he was born.

The 66-year-old – who made more than 270 appearances for the Potters as well as representing England – presented the signed top to Respect Chesterton.
World Cup winners Gordon Banks and George Eastham, fellow members of Stoke’s famous 1972 League Cup winning team and current players have also added their autographs.

‘I needed as many of the 1972 cup winning team as possible’
The shirt will be put on auction website eBay on August 22 with bids closing on September 1.

Mike, who now lives in Crackley, said: “I met with the vicar after a service and he said he was wanting to raise money for the Chesterton community.

“I got hold of John Ruggiero at the Stoke City Old Boys Association and asked if he could get me a shirt and get it signed by some of the current players.

“George Eastham was over from Africa at the time so I said I needed his signature as well, and as many of the 1972 cup winning team as possible.

“With Banksy and George you have a couple of the ’66 World Cup winning squad as well. John also got it framed so we are really chuffed.

“You never know how much it will go for, you can’t put a price on it. With these things it’s normally just the current squad but with having most of the 1972 squad it should attract some interest.
